FS VERSION | FS2004 NOTE: The computer you install this product on MUST be connected to the Internet: no refunds given. |
This add-on for the Microsoft Flight Simulator contains part of the Airbus fleet with 3 well-equipped Airbus models as well as 3 superbly detailed European holiday destinations.
The aircraft models, an Airbus A330-200, A321 and A320 all have highly detailed cockpits (2D and 3D). Real sounds, original instruments and a realistic flight model are only some of the highlights of these fabulous virtual aircraft. They all have a functioning Flight Management Computer (FMC). The cockpit and especially the FMC have been programmed for all users who don't want to spend hours of studying manuals before flying these aircraft. All models are easy to use and fun to fly. The FMC imports the standard flight plans of the Flight Simulator.
In addition the user can fly these aircraft to the fantastic and highly detailed holiday destinations of:
All three sceneries have an exact elevation model with many objects surrounding the airports, i.e. hotels, ships, boats, a fortress in Monastir, etc. Dynamic objects such as vehicles on the apron or swaying palm trees create this special holiday feeling. Static aircraft can be de-activated to make room for the AI traffic. Each airport has its own southern charm, especially showing through the wonderful night textures.
Please note this product is identical to the scenery and aircraft products sold separately and is also identical to the product sold under the LTU 2005 name in boxed format.
The aircraft
The A330 is a highly successful long range airliner and is closely related to the four engined A340. Launched in june 1987 they became popular aircraft with airliners, mostly because of the rather low maintenance and operation costs. The fact that it shares it systems with other members of the Airbus family makes it cheaper to produce, but also means pilots spend little time checking out on these new machines. For passengers these are also favorite aircraft as the cabin is very quiet and in many configurations spacious.
The Airbus 320 and 321 are the best selling short to medium range airliners of these days. They have proven to be reliable, rather inexpensive to operate and being the first generation of fly-by-wire airliners they will continue to transport passengers for decades to come. Based on the A320, the 321 is just a slightly longer version and with a slightly shorter range as the weight is kept similar by reducing the fuel load. Launched in March 1982 a new A320 is leaving the Airbus factory every day.
There have been a series of high end Airbusses for FS2004 but many of them are complex and demanding on hardware. For many simulator pilots who do not want to spend an hour before the flight there was only very limited choice. So Aerosoft decided to create a series of Airbusses that are between the high end (focussed on systems and procedures) and the default FS2004 aircraft. You can just load the aircraft, create a flightplan using the default FS2004 flight planner, load it into the Flight Management System and takeoff. The FMS is fully functional but it does not include some functions that actually have very little or no influence on FS2004. A manual that is also directly aimed at the user that wants to fly and not only be system operator completes a package that looks good, flies good and focuses on usability. This aircraft is very fast being used by Virtual Airlines and is a favorite for many pilots who fly online. The easy to use systems make it possible to handle all the demanding communications while still being in full control of the aircraft. Do not underestimate this aircraft, just download the manual and see how it reaches a perfect match between features and usability. You will be in the air in a matter of minutes and you will be using all the advanced systems in a matter of an hour.

The scenery
Well known to millions of European sun seekers, the airport of Monastir has been
missing from FS2004 until now. But now you got one more destination for your
medium range flights starting in Western Europe. You will find Monastir H.
Bourguiba Airport high in detail and pretty lively. There are no gates, so you
will have to use the platform parkings, a nice change from the larger airports!
The Greek island of Kos was as well known in the heyday of the ancient Greeks as
it is to the western european tourists of today. To handle the influx every
summer Kos has an airport that is well suited to handle the bigger aircraft.
Ippokartis airport (KGS/LGKO) has been steadily growing to handle close to 2
million passengers in 2003. The single 2400 meter runway does not have an ILS so
you will need to check the weather before approaching the airport! But flying
the VOR DME approaches will challenge your flying skills.
Aeroporto de Faro, the gateway to the Algarve, a well known touristic region of
Portugal has recently been upgraded and was one of the last touristic airports
that was not done in good detail for FS2004. Part of the upcoming LTU project
this airport is now available online. A fine destination, less then 3 hours from
all Western European centres. The scenery is detailed and done with care. Colors
and the shape of details are accurate. Although the level of detail is high, you
will find framerates to be excellent.
